A WALK ON
BARLASTON DOWNS.

Well....during the summer months, I take walks
with the kids and the grandkids up to Barlaston Downs for a ramble or a pic-nic.
These downs are at the south of the city and were donated to the public by John
Joule of Stone who was a brewer of fine ales. It's been taken over by the
National Trust now and they do a great job in maintaining it for our recreation.
I've visited there many times during my lifetime and it just gets better with
age. One can walk for an hour without meeting a single person at times.
This page is about one pic-nic trip with my
grandkids and also some walks I had with the family. At the top, there is a
monument to celebrate the 2nd millennium. That's where we had our pic-nic. From
that vantage point, one can look across to the Welsh mountains some 60/80 miles
distant. I love the Downs and the memories I have walking them with my family
and my dogs. Just click on a photo to enlarge it..
